Daily Schedule
Full-Day Program
8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. (30 hours/week) A sample schedule for the students includes core curriculum components as well as daily living skills, social skills, and related services. The following is just an example of what a student might do during the day at The Helping House. Breakfast - A group activity that includes preparations like setting the table, as well as clean-up routines. Calendar Time - A group activity centered around reciprocal and cooperative language. Math - An independent workstation, facilitated by an instructor who provides one-on-one assistance as needed. Outside Play - A group activity incorporating vestibular and proprioceptive stimulation, turn taking, and cooperative play. Group Game Time - A facilitated group game promoting appropriate social skills like sharing and waiting patiently. Language - A one-on-one guided language activity where an instructor targets specific elements of a students expressive and receptive language to improve communication. Reading - An independent workstation, facilitated by an instructor who provides one-on-one assistance as needed. Lunch - A group activity that includes perparations like setting the table, as well as clean-up routines. Listening - An independent activity implemented by our consulting speech therapist, this is an auditory processing curriculum called The Listening Program. Handwriting - An independent workstation targeting fine motor skills necessary for writing and cutting. Outside Play - A group activity incorporating vestibular and proprioceptive stimulation, turn taking, and cooperative play. Related Service - A one-on-one activity in which a visiting related service provider, such as a speech therapist or occupational therapist works on specific skills with a student. Chore time - The student participates in closure routines such as washing dishes and sweeping the floor at the end of the day. Play time - A group time of facilitated pretend play with peers.

Every child is unique, and the above schedule may not be appropriate for everyone. The hours listed are just a general guideline - We will do our best to accommodate each child and provide for their needs.
