Our Services

Teaching at The Helping House goes beyond traditional academic goals. In addition to age-appropriate learning, each student has a program that encompasses areas of deficit commonly seen in children with autism. Some of these areas include communication skills, social skills, toileting, feeding, and basic life skills. Our daily program consists of highly-structured activities that encourage self-direction and independence while teaching new skills. Related services are provided on-site if the student qualifies.

As a supplement to traditional education, several services are available to parents and students. These include:

  • Parent training and support

  • A literature library on therapies and treatments

  • Spanish-language training and support

  • Community outings

  • Peer mentoring groups

  • The Listening Program overseen by our consulting speech therapist

  • Sensory integration therapy.
